Hello

I have seen daennies FC + VESC Project. I think it is very nice that the FC (teensy) gets current and voltage info from the VESC, making the board much simpler.

Is anyone still working om something like that project?

Victor

It should be no problem to transfer the code from daenny's fork to the official FC code, someone just has to find some time to do it. Then it could be used with any of the FC boards, or, if space matters, on an Arduino nano (FC code is compatible).

I guess it does not make much sense to create a smaller FC version just to connect to a VESC, since one could realize all FC functions directly on the VESC itself - it has by far enough processing power.

Nice! Good to hear that you think it is possible too.

The cheap focer2 makes the VESC very interesting as a DIY board as it costs only 35 eur including shipping.

Unfortunately I do not program very well so I think it is easier for me to try and port the code conpared to running it directly off of the VESC. Do you agree?

I know that the FC features are saught after from the ebike crowd so in the other hand it would also be very nice to program them directly as an app.

Yes ist is easier to adapt the FC code than directly programming the VESC, since as far as I know, that is running a multi-threaded RTOS and thus the code is much more complex and timing critical. Some years ago I had started porting some functionality like PAS to the VESC, but I did not go on with that. So it is definitely possible, but requires more effort.
