Bafang BBSHD Error 08

Dear all,

it is some time ago (I guess about 3 years) that I got my hands on a - then - brand new bafang bbshd which I installed on my fully mtb that I used only as a fun bike. So far, the setup worked really fine (I rode about 1100 km only since installation of the BBSHD) but two weeks ago on a bike ride the engine suddenly stopped working after a rather steep low cadence climb. The display shows the following Error: "Error 08 Controller Report".

The motor does not provide any power output anymore - only after beeing restarted the chain ring turns a few degrees and stops immediately after. If I use the power throttle the motor seems to drain the battery since it gets hot and my voltage level drops , however with no mechanical power output of the motor.

Do you have any clue what this is about? I read that error 08 refers to the hall sensors. I am educated as an electrical engineer so I would be fine to open up the motor and do some soldering. However, I have no spare parts and I would also need to figure out which hall sensor is affected and why.

I can also provide with additional pictures from the error messages/display/motor or also a brief video of the motor activating and disabling. The error message also does not show up most of the time but only appears for a few seconds. However, the motor is also not working during absence of the error message.

I hope you can help me solving the issue. I am looking forward for your feedback.

Hallo Christian, habe das gleiche Problem mit meinem Bafang Hinterradmotor. Alle Kabel und Steckverbindungen geprüft, Hallsensor neu justiert, ohne Erfolg. Hast Du eine Lösung gefunden?

Hallo Christian, klingt sehr ähnlich wie das Verhalten, dass ich an meinem Bafang Nabenmotor beobachte.
Bafang C961 Error 08 Hall Sensor, bitte um Hilfe
Zeitlich ist es bei mir direkt nach dem Ausbau/Einbau des Hinterrades, wegen Speichenreparatur aufgetreten, so dass ich von einer mechanischen Beschädigung eines Kabels ausgegangen bin. Allerdings lässt sich nichts finden.
Woanders im Netz hab ich von einer thermischen Schädigung von Hall-Sensoren bei starker Belastung des Motors gelesen. Dann lässt es sich mit Austausch des Sensors beheben. Welcher Sensor lässt sich dann eindeutig nur durch zusätzliches Messmaterial herausfinden. Denke ich werd mein Fahrrad wohl in eine Fachwerkstatt bringen müssen.
